McCook vs Western Wyoming

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (Interstat) — The McCook Indians look to continue their strong start to the season when they face the Western Wyoming Mustangs in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Saturday as part of the Battle For The Boot tournament.

McCook (3-1) enters the contest with momentum after a narrow 79-76 road victory over Casper on Friday. The Indians’ frontcourt was dominant in the win, with Alier Alier (12 points, 11 rebounds, 3 blocks), Sofiane Benragba (16 points, 7 rebounds) and Mo Diao (10 points, 14 rebounds, 4 blocks) controlling the paint. McCook’s only loss this season came in a high-scoring affair against Eastern Florida State, 111-101.

The Western Wyoming Mustangs (1-1) are looking to rebound from an 81-62 loss at Southern Idaho on Thursday. In that game, Paulius Narvilas posted a strong double-double with 21 points and 15 rebounds. The Mustangs’ lone win was a 78-71 home victory over Utah State Eastern on Nov. 1.

The neutral-site game in Twin Falls pits McCook’s formidable interior presence against a Western Wyoming team seeking consistency. The Indians have shown a capacity for both high-scoring outputs and gritty, defensive wins, while the Mustangs will rely on Narvilas to lead them against McCook’s deep rotation of big men.
