Cerritos vs El Camino
Preview: Cerritos Falcons at El Camino Warriors
TORRANCE, Calif. (Interstat) — The surging Cerritos Falcons, ranked third in the state, will look to extend their winning streak when they visit the El Camino Warriors in a California Community College Athletic Association men’s basketball matchup Wednesday night.
Cerritos (22-4) enters on a nine-game win streak, most recently an 85-61 home victory over Los Angeles Harbor on Feb. 13. The Falcons’ last loss was Jan. 21.
El Camino (14-12) seeks to rebound from a 95-81 road loss to Los Angeles Southwest on Feb. 13, which snapped a two-game win streak. The Warriors are 3-3 in their last six contests.
The Falcons won the first meeting this season, 64-59, at home on Jan. 30. In that game, Cerritos forward Dorian Tate posted 21 points and 11 rebounds. Tate has been dominant during the win streak, averaging a double-double. He is coming off a 27-point, 10-rebound performance in a 100-58 rout of Compton on Feb. 11.
El Camino will counter with guard Rocco Gaffoglio, who scored a season-high 27 points in a narrow 73-70 loss to Compton on Feb. 6. Gaffoglio was held to nine points in the first matchup against Cerritos.
Cerritos boasts one of the state’s top offenses, having scored 90 or more points in three of its last five games. El Camino has shown resilience at home, including a 65-62 win over Los Angeles Harbor on Feb. 4, but will need to contain Tate and the Falcons’ efficient attack to pull an upset.
A win for Cerritos would solidify its standing atop the conference, while El Camino aims to improve its playoff positioning with a signature victory.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. PST at the El Camino College Gymnasium.
