Riverside Rallies to Upset Cypress in Conference Play

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (Interstat) — The Riverside Tigers defeated the Cypress Chargers 73-56 in a California Community College men’s basketball game Friday, overcoming a significant first-quarter deficit. Cypress led 32-35 after a high-scoring opening period, but Riverside dominated the remainder, outscoring the Chargers 38-24 the rest of the way to secure the road victory. The result improved Riverside’s record to 11-8, while Cypress fell to 9-10. The Tigers’ win defied a national statistical projection that heavily favored the Chargers. Kollen Murphy led Riverside, while Jack Rivera was the key performer for Cypress. The teams will meet again in Riverside on Feb. 18.
