Hill vs Ranger

RANGER, Texas (Interstat) — The Ranger College Rangers will look to improve their late-season form when they host the struggling Hill College Rebels in a men’s junior college basketball matchup on Saturday, March 7.

The Rangers (11-15) enter on a two-game winning streak, including a 66-61 road victory at Weatherford on Wednesday. They previously defeated Grayson 89-65 on Feb. 28, a game in which sophomore guard Mafatime Ndiaye erupted for 24 points. Ndiaye has been a consistent offensive catalyst, averaging 12.0 points over his last five contests.

Hill (3-15) seeks to halt a four-game skid, most recently a 99-66 loss at Grayson on Wednesday. The Rebels’ last victory was a 74-71 win at Southwestern Christian on Feb. 11. They will rely on guard Derrick Morris, who is coming off a 13-point, 4-assist performance against McLennan on Feb. 28. Morris has averaged 10.3 points and 5.3 assists over his last three games.

This game is a rematch from Feb. 4, when Ranger secured an 86-77 road win over Hill. In that contest, the Rangers built a double-digit lead that the Rebels could not overcome.

Ranger has found a rhythm offensively, scoring 89 and 100 points in two of its last four games. Hill has struggled to keep pace, allowing 75 or more points in six of its last seven losses. Containing Ndiaye will be a primary defensive focus for the Rebels, while the Rangers must account for Morris’ playmaking.

The game tips off at 4 p.m. Central at the Ron Butler Gymnasium. Ranger will honor its sophomore players prior to the regular-season home finale.
