Denmark Tech vs USC Salkehatchie

DENMARK, S.C. (Interstat) — The USC Salkehatchie Indians will look to solidify their winning season record when they host the struggling Denmark Tech Panthers in a men’s junior college basketball matchup on Wednesday, March 4.

The Indians (10-7) enter the contest following a narrow 97-91 home loss to Richard Bland on Saturday. Despite that setback, they have won four of their last seven games and boast a potent offense, having scored 100 or more points in five games this season, including a 142-point outburst against Cape Fear on Feb. 10.

Denmark Tech (2-13) is mired in a prolonged slump, having lost 11 consecutive games. Their last victory dates to early December. The Panthers are coming off a 93-75 home loss to Wake Tech this past Saturday, part of a stretch where they have allowed an average of 104 points per game over their last five contests.

This game is a quick rematch of a high-scoring affair from Feb. 12, where USC Salkehatchie emerged with a 119-112 road victory over Denmark Tech. The Panthers will aim to avenge that loss and find a defensive answer for the Indians’ attack.

A player to watch for Denmark Tech is Riley Durant, though his recent playing time has been minimal. He logged just one minute in a loss to Brunswick on Feb. 22.

Despite the stark contrast in records, Interstat’s game simulator projects a tightly contested game, forecasting a 100-100 final score. The Indians will be favored to defend their home court, while the Panthers seek a desperately needed turnaround to halt their lengthy skid.

Following this game, Denmark Tech faces a quick turnaround with road games at Cape Fear on March 7 and at Brunswick on March 8. USC Salkehatchie’s next scheduled game was not provided.
