(Interstat) — The New Mexico Thunderbirds secured a decisive 88-68 road victory over New Mexico Military Institute on Monday night. The Thunderbirds established a commanding lead with 43 points in the first quarter and maintained control throughout the men’s junior college basketball game. David Popa led the Broncos with 18 points in the losing effort. New Mexico improved its season record to 20-5, while the Broncos fell to 11-17. The Thunderbirds have now won both meetings between the teams this season.
