Albany Tech vs South Georgia Tech

Preview of Albany Tech Titans at South Georgia Tech Jets

AMERICUS, Ga. (Interstat) — A quick rematch with regional implications is set for Saturday when the South Georgia Tech Jets host the Albany Tech Titans in a men’s junior college basketball game.

The Jets (12-15) will seek to avenge a 68-63 road loss to the Titans on Feb. 9 when the teams meet again at the Hangar. South Georgia Tech enters with momentum from a dominant 73-44 road win at Southern Crescent on Wednesday, powered by 18 points from Jalexs Ewing.

Albany Tech (8-13) looks to rebound from a tough 82-64 home loss to South Georgia State on Wednesday. The Titans have lost three straight since their Feb. 9 victory over these same Jets.

A key matchup will feature two of the region’s top forwards. Albany Tech is led by Brennan Wansley, who is coming off a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double in the loss to South Georgia State. Wansley averaged 18.8 points and 9.4 rebounds over his last five games, including a 21-point, 11-rebound performance in the first meeting with South Georgia Tech.

The Jets counter with defensive anchor Matt Mbole, who has been a force on the boards and as a rim protector. In his last four full games, Mbole averaged 9.8 points, 14.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks. His presence was missed in the first matchup, where he played only one minute in the Jets’ loss.

For Albany Tech, Nicholas Durham, who had 16 points and six assists on Wednesday, provides a crucial secondary scoring option. For South Georgia Tech, Ewing’s scoring surge and Jarius Davis’ consistency offer balance alongside Mbole’s interior dominance.

While South Georgia Tech holds the better overall record, Albany Tech won the season’s first encounter. The Jets have been strong at home recently, including an 89-49 rout of Andrew on Feb. 21. The Titans have struggled on the road, with a 2-7 record in true away games this season.

Saturday’s contest is the final regular-season game for both teams before postseason play begins next week.
