Hutchinson vs Coffeyville
Preview: Hutchinson Blue Dragons at Coffeyville Ravens
COFFEYVILLE, Kan. (Interstat) — A surging Coffeyville squad will host a Hutchinson team seeking momentum when the Ravens and Blue Dragons meet in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday.
The Ravens (16-8) enter on a four-game winning streak, most recently a 76-62 road victory at Colby on Feb. 14. Guard Jack Sorrell has been instrumental, averaging 20.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 6.0 assists during the streak. He scored 26 points in 39 minutes against Colby.
Hutchinson (10-15) snapped a five-game skid with a 75-71 home win over Colby on Wednesday. The Blue Dragons are led by guard Daleron Thomas, who poured in 29 points and grabbed seven rebounds in that victory. Thomas has scored 20 or more points in five of his last eight contests.
Coffeyville holds the superior overall record, but Hutchinson won the season’s first meeting, 93-77, at home on Jan. 7.
The Ravens have been strong at home this season, while Hutchinson has struggled on the road, losing six of its last seven away games. Coffeyville’s balance, with contributors like Daniel Ntambwe (13 points, 9 rebounds vs. Colby), will challenge a Hutchinson defense allowing an average of 78.2 points per game.
For Hutchinson to pull another upset, Thomas will need continued offensive support, such as the 18 points from Bobby Cannon and the 10-assist performance from Lolo Rudolph in the last outing.
Tip-off is set for Saturday afternoon. Coffeyville’s next game is at home against Pratt on Wednesday. Hutchinson’s next contest is at home against Pratt on Feb. 28.
