Dyersburg State vs Southwest Tennessee

DYERSBURG, Tenn. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking to escape lengthy skids will meet Wednesday when the Dyersburg State Eagles visit the Southwest Tennessee Saluqis.

The game, scheduled for Feb. 18, 2026, pits struggling programs against each other. Dyersburg State enters with a 1-17 overall record, while Southwest Tennessee sits at 2-12. The Saluqis earned one of those victories just last Saturday, a 69-55 home win over Motlow State.

That victory snapped a six-game losing streak for Southwest Tennessee and was fueled by a dominant defensive performance from forward Abdoul Sacko. The player to watch for the Saluqis logged 25 minutes in the win, recording 8 points, 11 rebounds and 8 blocked shots. Over his last three full appearances, Sacko has averaged 8.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 5.3 blocks per game.

Dyersburg State, meanwhile, is mired in a 10-game losing streak since its only win of the season back on Jan. 3. The Eagles are coming off a 106-56 road loss to Walters State on Feb. 14. In that contest, guard Deston Christian, noted as a player to watch for the Eagles, played just one minute.

The teams have met once already this season, with Southwest Tennessee securing an 83-78 road victory over Dyersburg State on Jan. 7. In that game, the Saluqis overcame a halftime deficit to complete the comeback win.

Despite the teams’ combined 3-29 record, Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring and even affair, predicting a 100-100 final score. Both teams will look to their upcoming conference schedules for momentum, with Dyersburg State hosting Chattanooga State on Feb. 21 and Southwest Tennessee welcoming Columbia State on Feb. 25.

Wednesday’s tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CST at the Verties Sails Gymnasium in Memphis.
