Northeast Mississippi vs Hinds

RAYMOND, Miss. (Interstat) — A pair of Mississippi junior college men’s basketball teams seeking consistency will meet Monday when the Northeast Mississippi Tigers visit the Hinds Eagles.

The Tigers (10-8) enter on the heels of a narrow 99-95 road loss at Northwest Mississippi on Saturday. Despite the defeat, Northeast Mississippi showed offensive potency, with Jalen Chandler posting 17 points and nine rebounds. Chandler, a player to watch, is coming off a strong recent stretch.

Hinds (7-11) snapped a three-game skid with an 83-66 victory at Mississippi Delta on Saturday. The Eagles will look to build momentum and improve their standing in the region.

Northeast Mississippi has experienced recent volatility, following a three-game winning streak with a loss last time out. Alongside Chandler, Zane Tipler and Tayler Berryhill have provided scoring punch, each adding 16 points or more in the latest contest.

For Hinds, forward Abubakar Cham is a key figure. He recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds in a loss to Itawamba on Feb. 9, highlighting his capability to impact the game inside.

The Eagles’ season has been marked by close calls, including three losses by four points or fewer. Their overtime win over East Mississippi earlier this month demonstrated their potential.

Historically, these programs have not met this season, adding an element of unpredictability to the matchup. The game will be a test of Northeast Mississippi’s ability to bounce back on the road against a Hinds team aiming to establish a home-court advantage and string together wins for the first time since early January.

Tipoff is set for Monday, Feb. 16, 2026, at Hinds Community College.
