Odessa Edges Western Texas in Tight Junior College Men’s Basketball Contest

ODESSA, Texas (Interstat) — Ahmere Carson scored 20 points as the Odessa Wranglers avenged an earlier loss by holding off the Western Texas Westerners 64-60 in a men’s junior college basketball game Monday.

Odessa improved to 16-7 overall, while Western Texas fell to 10-12. The Wranglers, who lost to the Westerners in January, secured the rematch despite shooting just 36.2% from the floor. They forced 27 turnovers, converting them into key scoring opportunities.

Isak Homelius led all scorers with 30 points for Western Texas, which led 60-55 with under three minutes to play. Odessa closed the game on a 9-0 run, with Carson making four free throws in the final 40 seconds to seal the victory.
