Daytona State vs Polk State

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Interstat) — A Citrus Conference men’s junior college basketball matchup on Saturday features teams at opposite ends of the standings, as the surging Daytona State Falcons visit the struggling Polk State Eagles.

The Falcons (16-5) enter the Valentine’s Day contest riding a wave of momentum, having won seven of their last eight games. Their most recent outing was a dominant 82-60 victory over Santa Fe on Feb. 7. In contrast, the Eagles (1-15) are mired in a 10-game losing streak, with their last win coming on Dec. 31, 2025. Their most recent result was a 92-65 defeat at Florida Southwestern State on Feb. 7.

The teams met just last month, with Daytona State delivering a lopsided 107-63 win at home on Jan. 14. The Falcons have been one of the conference’s most potent offenses, scoring 95 or more points in three of their last six games.

A key player to watch for Daytona State is Noah Mendy. The standout guard has been on a scoring tear, averaging 25.4 points over his last five games. He dropped a season-high 36 points in a win over Indian River State on Jan. 21 and followed that with 27 points in a narrow overtime loss to Eastern Florida State on Feb. 4. His versatility was on full display against Santa Fe, contributing 23 points, five rebounds and two assists.

Polk State will look to guard Eric Dailey to provide a spark. He led the Eagles with 19 points in their last game and scored 18 in a Jan. 24 contest against Miami Dade. Consistency has been a challenge for Polk State, which has not held an opponent under 76 points during its current skid.

Despite the stark contrast in records, Interstat’s game simulator projects a highly unusual and even final score of 100-100. Historical data strongly favors the Falcons, but the Eagles will aim to leverage home court to find a path to an upset and snap their prolonged slump.

Following this game, Daytona State will host Indian River State on Feb. 18. Polk State’s next contest is at Indian River State on Feb. 21.
