Southern-Shreveport vs Delgado

Preview: Southern-Shreveport Jaguars at Delgado Dolphins

SHREVEPORT, La. (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Southern-Shreveport Jaguars visit the Delgado Dolphins.

The non-conference matchup, set for Feb. 11, 2026, features teams with nearly identical records. Southern-Shreveport enters at 6-7 overall, while Delgado sits at 5-9.

The Jaguars are coming off a 67-62 home victory over Baton Rouge on Feb. 7, which snapped a two-game skid. That win completed a regular-season sweep of Baton Rouge, as Southern-Shreveport also won 83-76 on the road Feb. 2. The Jaguars have shown resilience in close games, with three of their six wins coming by five points or fewer.

Delgado counters with confidence after a decisive 70-50 win over that same Baton Rouge team on Feb. 4. The Dolphins were led in that contest by a standout performance from forward Amir Rios, who posted a double-double with 12 points, 11 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 blocks in 40 minutes. Rios, a player to watch, will be central to Delgado’s game plan.

Beyond Rios, the Dolphins received significant contributions from guards Oren Bowens (23 points) and Khalil Awogboro (22 points, 8 rebounds) in their latest win. Delgado has struggled with consistency, however, alternating wins and losses over its past five games.

The Jaguars’ season has been defined by streaks, opening with three straight wins before enduring a four-game losing streak. Their offense has been volatile, scoring 82 points or more three times but also being held to 60 or fewer on four occasions.

This contest begins a critical three-game stretch for both squads. They are scheduled to meet again in Shreveport on Feb. 21 and Feb. 28, making this initial clash key for establishing an early psychological edge.

Wednesday’s tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Central at Delgado’s home venue. With both teams hovering near .500 and seeking a winning trajectory, this mid-February clash offers an opportunity for either the visiting Jaguars or the home-standing Dolphins to build a late-season surge.
