Navarro vs Tyler

TYLER, Texas (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Navarro Bulldogs visit the Tyler Apaches at Wagstaff Gymnasium.

Navarro (10-11) arrives after a tough 87-79 home loss to Panola on Saturday. The Bulldogs have lost three of their last four, including a narrow 77-79 defeat at Blinn on Feb. 4. Tyler (9-8) looks to bounce back from a 65-74 road loss at Blinn on Feb. 7, which snapped a three-game winning streak.

The Apaches won the season’s first meeting, 79-76, at Navarro on Dec. 3, 2025, adding stakes to the rematch.

A key matchup will feature Navarro forward Favian Mbaoma against Tyler’s Josiah Hill. Mbaoma has been a consistent interior presence for the Bulldogs, posting a double-double of 10 rebounds and five points in a Jan. 19 win over Coastal Bend, and narrowly missing another with nine points and 10 rebounds at Paris on Jan. 17. His activity on the glass will be critical for Navarro.

For Tyler, Hill provides energy and rebounding. He recorded seven points and nine rebounds in a Jan. 17 victory over Lee and added six points and seven boards in a double-overtime win at Lee on Jan. 31. His physicality inside could help Tyler control the paint.

Both teams have shown a capacity for close games. Tyler has played in three overtime contests this season, winning two. Navarro’s recent skid includes two losses by a single possession.

The game is part of a tight conference race as the regular season enters its final weeks. Following this contest, Navarro travels to face Angelina on Saturday, while Tyler will visit Lamar State-Port Arthur.

Tip-off is set for Wednesday night at Wagstaff Gymnasium.
