Miles vs North Dakota St Science

Miles, North Dakota St Science Set for Men’s Junior College Rematch

WAHPETON, N.D. (Interstat) — The Miles Pioneers will seek to avenge a narrow loss from three weeks ago when they visit the North Dakota St Science Wildcats in a men’s junior college basketball game Monday.

The Wildcats (6-3) edged the Pioneers (5-13) 77-75 on Jan. 19 in Miles. That contest is part of a challenging stretch for Miles, which has lost five of its last six games, including a 94-84 defeat at Lake Region State on Sunday.

North Dakota St Science enters on a higher note, coming off an 89-85 home victory over Dawson on Sunday. The Wildcats have won three of their last four.

A key matchup will feature two of the region’s top performers. Miles will lean on Uwami Chongo, who is coming off a dominant 15-point, 16-rebound effort in Sunday’s loss. For the Wildcats, guard Cham Okey is a focal point after posting 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in his last outing.

Miles showed balance in its recent defeat with Azenio Cossa adding 20 points and five assists, and Shad Boyce contributing eight points and seven rebounds. North Dakota St Science counters with additional firepower from John Angau, who scored 26 points against Dawson, and Jikany Deang, who added 18.

The game is the final scheduled meeting between the two teams this season. North Dakota St Science’s next contest is at Williston State on Feb. 23. Miles’ schedule beyond Monday was not immediately available.
