Kennedy-King vs Wilbur Wright

CHICAGO (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking to halt slides will meet Thursday when the Kennedy-King Statesmen visit the Wilbur Wright Rams.

The game, scheduled for Feb. 5, 2026, pits a struggling Kennedy-King squad (4-9) against a winless Wilbur Wright team (0-11). Both programs enter on losing streaks, with the Statesmen having dropped four straight and the Rams mired in an 11-game skid to open their season.

Kennedy-King will look to replicate its dominant performance from the teams’ first meeting this season. On Dec. 4, 2025, the Statesmen routed the Rams 84-52 at home. Javon Warfield is a player to watch for Kennedy-King, though he logged only one minute in the team’s 75-59 loss at Olive-Harvey on Jan. 27.

The Statesmen are coming off an 87-66 road defeat at Southeastern on Jan. 29. Their last victory was a narrow 85-84 home win over Triton on Jan. 20.

Wilbur Wright’s challenges have been more pronounced, having lost each game this season by double digits. The Rams are fresh off a pair of lopsided home losses, most recently an 89-57 defeat against Highland (Ill.) on Jan. 31 and a 77-48 loss to Richard J Daley on Jan. 29. Their closest contest was a 77-71 loss to Harry S Truman on Dec. 16.

For the Rams, Thursday represents a prime opportunity to secure their first victory. For the Statesmen, it is a chance to sweep the season series and build momentum before hosting Malcolm X on Feb. 10. Wilbur Wright’s next game is at Kankakee on Feb. 10.
