Lee vs Angelina

LEE, Texas (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams hovering around .500 will meet Wednesday when the Lee College Runnin’ Rebels visit the Angelina College Roadrunners.

The non-conference matchup, set for Feb. 4, 2026, features teams with identical 9-win records but different trajectories. Lee (9-7) has won four of its last six, while Angelina (9-9) has dropped two straight.

Lee won the season’s first meeting, 78-69, at home on Dec. 3. The Runnin’ Rebels are coming off a tough 81-78 double-overtime loss to Tyler on Saturday, snapping a three-game win streak. Angelina fell 67-56 at Paris that same day.

A key matchup will be in the frontcourt. Lee’s Josh Smith is a player to watch, coming off a dominant performance in a Jan. 28 win over Lamar State-Port Arthur where he posted 10 points, 11 rebounds and 7 assists. Smith has recorded double-doubles in two of his last four games where he saw significant minutes.

For Angelina, forward Clarence Payia has been a consistent force, averaging a double-double over his last three full contests. He logged 14 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Panola on Jan. 29 and 16 points and 7 rebounds against Lamar State-Port Arthur on Jan. 21.

Lee’s offense has shown potency, scoring 92 and 95 points in recent wins, but has also been inconsistent on the road. Angelina has relied on defense, holding opponents under 70 points in three of its last five games, but has struggled offensively, failing to reach 60 points in three of those outings.

Both teams will look to this game as a pivot point before resuming their conference schedules this weekend. Lee hosts Kilgore on Saturday, while Angelina travels to Trinity Valley.

Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CST at Angelina College in Lufkin.
