Vincennes vs Lincoln Trail
VINCENNES, Ind. (Interstat) — The surging Vincennes Trailblazers look to rebound from their first loss of the season when they visit the Lincoln Trail Statesmen in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday night.
Vincennes (17-1), ranked among the nation’s elite, saw its perfect season end with a 70-54 home defeat to John A. Logan this past Saturday. Prior to that, the Trailblazers had won 17 consecutive games, including a 62-57 victory at Southwestern Illinois on Jan. 28.
Lincoln Trail (5-5) enters on a two-game skid, most recently falling 82-75 at Lake Land on Saturday. The Statesmen have shown resilience, however, with notable wins over Southwestern Illinois and Kaskaskia earlier in January.
A key matchup will feature Vincennes forward Prince Ojukwu against Lincoln Trail guard Jared Jackson. Ojukwu has been a consistent force, averaging 8.0 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists over his last five games. He recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds and four assists in a win at Olney Central on Jan. 21.
Jackson provides the offensive spark for the Statesmen, averaging 19.0 points and 5.0 assists in his last two outings. He scored 20 points in a road win at Kaskaskia on Jan. 14.
Despite the disparity in records, Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring 100-100 draw, suggesting a potentially tight contest. Vincennes will aim to reassert its defensive dominance after allowing 70 points in its loss, a figure it had not surrendered since December.
For Lincoln Trail, protecting home court against a powerhouse opponent offers a chance to build momentum for a challenging February schedule that includes road games at Wabash Valley and John A. Logan.
Wednesday’s tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CST at Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Illinois.
