East Georgia State vs Central Georgia
Preview: Bobcats Visit Titans in Junior College Showdown
SWAINSBORO, Ga. (Interstat) — A surging Central Georgia squad will look to continue its winning ways when it hosts struggling East Georgia State in a men’s junior college basketball matchup Wednesday night.
The Central Georgia Titans (7-5) have won six of their last seven games, most recently a 70-65 victory over Albany Tech on Jan. 28. They will be heavily favored against the East Georgia State Bobcats (6-13), who have lost three of their last five.
The Titans are powered by forward Roosevelt Brown, who has been a dominant force during the team’s hot streak. In his last four full games, Brown is averaging 19.5 points and 8.3 rebounds, including an 18-point, 6-rebound performance in the win over Albany Tech. His versatility as a scorer and rebounder will be a primary focus for the Bobcats’ defense.
East Georgia State is coming off an 80-74 home win over Southern Crescent, a game that snapped a two-game skid. The Bobcats will rely on guard Calvin Hall, who led the team with 13 points in that victory. Hall has shown scoring bursts, dropping 22 points in a narrow loss to Gordon State on Jan. 21, but consistency has been an issue for both the player and his team.
The Bobcats’ defense, allowing an average of 77.2 points per game in their last five outings, will be tested by a Central Georgia offense that has scored 90 or more points three times during its current run. Containing Brown and limiting second-chance opportunities will be critical for the visitors.
Central Georgia won the only meeting between these programs last season. The teams are scheduled for a rematch in East Georgia on March 7.
Wednesday’s contest tips off at 7:30 p.m. at the Titans’ home court. For Central Georgia, it’s a chance to solidify its winning record. For East Georgia State, it represents an opportunity to build momentum from its last win and spring a significant road upset.
