Kaskaskia vs Wabash Valley

Preview: Kaskaskia Blue Devils at Wabash Valley Warriors

MOUNT CARMEL, Ill. (Interstat) — The Wabash Valley Warriors will look to avenge an early-season loss and build on a recent win when they host the Kaskaskia Blue Devils in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday.

The Warriors (7-10) defeated Lake Land 81-64 on Wednesday, while the Blue Devils (2-6) have not played since a 98-90 home loss to John A. Logan on Jan. 22. Kaskaskia’s scheduled games against Shawnee on Jan. 24 and Olney Central on Jan. 28 were not played, according to available results.

In the first meeting this season on Dec. 10, Kaskaskia secured a 78-65 home victory over Wabash Valley. The Blue Devils have struggled since, however, entering Saturday on a five-game losing streak. Their last win was that Dec. 10 contest against the Warriors.

Wabash Valley has shown inconsistency but arrives with momentum from its double-digit win over Lake Land. A player to watch for the Warriors is Byron McNeill, who contributed six points and three rebounds in 11 minutes off the bench in a Jan. 7 loss to Southwestern Illinois. In his other recent appearances, including Wednesday’s win, his playing time has been limited.

For Kaskaskia, finding a consistent offensive rhythm has been a season-long challenge. During their current skid, they have allowed an average of 84.4 points per game. Containing Wabash Valley’s scoring, particularly in the paint, will be a key focus.

The game is part of a crucial stretch for both teams as they navigate the back half of their conference schedules. Following this matchup, Wabash Valley travels to face John A. Logan on Wednesday, Feb. 4. Kaskaskia’s next game is also on Feb. 4, a home contest against Southwestern Illinois.

Tipoff is set for Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, at Wabash Valley College.
