Polk State vs Eastern Florida State
Preview: Polk State Eagles at Eastern Florida State Titans
MELBOURNE, Fla. (Interstat) — A struggling Polk State team aims to snap a lengthy skid when it visits Eastern Florida State in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday.
The Eagles (1-12) have lost 10 consecutive games, most recently falling 81-77 at Hillsborough on Wednesday. Their lone win came over two months ago. The Titans (11-6), meanwhile, are coming off a 97-88 road victory at Indian River State on Jan. 24 and have won three of their last four contests.
The matchup features a stark contrast in recent form. Polk State’s losing streak includes several lopsided defeats, such as a 107-63 loss at Daytona State on Jan. 14. Eastern Florida State has shown potency, averaging 89.3 points in its last three victories.
A key player to watch for the Titans is Sean Register Jr., who has been a consistent high-volume scorer and rebounder. He is averaging 22.8 points and 8.8 rebounds over his last four games, including a 27-point, 12-rebound performance at Daytona State on Jan. 3.
For Polk State, Adonys Christo is a player the Eagles hope can provide a spark. His playing time has fluctuated recently, but he contributed 5 points and 4 rebounds in 17 minutes in a Jan. 24 loss at Miami Dade.
Eastern Florida State won the first meeting between the teams last season. The Titans will look to leverage their home court and superior record, while the Eagles seek a desperately needed turnaround to salvage their season.
Tip-off is set for Saturday at Eastern Florida State’s campus arena. The teams are scheduled to meet again in Winter Haven on March 2.
