Preview: Rio Hondo Roadrunners at El Camino Warriors

TORRANCE, Calif. (Interstat) — A surging Rio Hondo squad will look to continue its recent success when it visits El Camino College on Wednesday night in a California community college men’s basketball matchup.

The Roadrunners (6-8) enter on a three-game winning streak, most recently edging Antelope Valley 84-83 on Dec. 19. Bobby Reyes led that charge with 29 points, while Ryan Osborne added 14 points and seven rebounds. Rio Hondo’s offense has found rhythm, averaging 84.3 points during the streak.

They face a Warriors team (9-6) aiming to rebound from a lopsided 88-60 loss at Mount San Antonio on Jan. 2. El Camino had won three straight prior to that defeat.

A key player to watch for the Warriors is guard Linken Tate. He scored 21 points and grabbed five rebounds in the loss to Mount San Antonio, following a 23-point performance in a win over Bakersfield on Dec. 17. His scoring punch will be central to El Camino’s efforts.

El Camino holds the overall season record advantage and has been strong at home, with notable wins over Bakersfield and Porterville in Torrance. The Warriors’ defense will be tested by a Rio Hondo offense that has shown high-scoring capability but also inconsistency, including a 57-point outing in a November loss.

The game marks the start of conference play for both teams. Rio Hondo visits Compton on Friday, while El Camino hosts Los Angeles Trade Tech.

Wednesday’s tipoff is set for 5 p.m. at the El Camino College Gymnasium.
