Hillsborough vs Eastern Florida State

Titans Look to Snap Skid Against Visiting Hawks

MELBOURNE, Fla. (Interstat) — The Eastern Florida State men’s basketball team will look to halt a three-game losing streak when it hosts Hillsborough in a junior college matchup Saturday.

The Titans (9-6) have dropped consecutive games to Florida Southwestern State, Miami Dade and Daytona State despite strong individual performances. They will face a Hillsborough squad (4-4) coming off an overtime victory.

Eastern Florida State’s recent struggles have come despite the standout play of Sean Register Jr. The guard is averaging 23.3 points and 9.3 rebounds over the last three contests, including a 25-point effort in Wednesday’s 97-82 road loss to Florida Southwestern State.

Hillsborough, which has alternated wins and losses over its last six games, edged Indian River State 73-68 in overtime on Wednesday. The Hawks have relied on balanced scoring, with Brian Estime among the players to watch. Estime logged 12 minutes and grabbed two rebounds in a win at Florida Southwestern State on Jan. 10.

The Titans won both meetings last season, including a 76-68 victory at home. Register scored 19 points in that contest.

Eastern Florida State’s schedule does not ease after Saturday, with a road game at Indian River State looming Jan. 24. Hillsborough continues a tough stretch, hosting Santa Fe on Jan. 21.

Saturday’s game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. tipoff at the Titan Field House.
