Gillette vs Western Wyoming

ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. (Interstat) — The Gillette College Pronghorns, riding a two-game winning streak, will visit the Western Wyoming Community College Mustangs in a Region IX men’s junior college basketball matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026.

Gillette (7-6) enters following a 94-84 home victory over Western Nebraska on Jan. 8, where guard Jaden Smith led the way with 22 points, six rebounds and six assists. Smith has been a key contributor during the Pronghorns’ streak, averaging 16 points, 5.5 rebounds and four assists over the last two contests. He is complemented by Sayed Sayed, who scored 24 points in the last outing, and Diabe Bathily, who nearly posted a triple-double with seven points, nine rebounds and seven assists.

Western Wyoming (3-9) snapped a five-game skid with an 83-69 road win at Lamar on Jan. 6. Forward Caelum Harris powered that victory with a double-double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Harris’s production will be critical for the Mustangs, though his playing time was limited to just one minute in a subsequent loss to Otero on Jan. 5. Sean Pendleton (19 points) and Paulius Narvilas (17 points, nine rebounds) also provided significant offense in the win over Lamar.

The Pronghorns have found recent success after a difficult stretch in December that included lopsided road losses to Snow and Indian Hills. Western Wyoming has struggled for consistency, with its three wins coming against Lamar, Williston State (Nov. 28) and McCook in a narrow loss.

This game marks the first of two regular-season meetings between the teams this season. They are scheduled to meet again in Gillette on Saturday, Feb. 7.

Tip-off is set for Wednesday night at Western Wyoming Community College.
