Struggling JUCO Teams Clash as Temple Visits Grayson

DENISON, Texas (Interstat) — Two men’s junior college basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Temple Leopards face the Grayson Vikings.

The non-conference matchup at Grayson College features teams with identical 2-7 records, though Grayson’s overall mark sits at 2-14. Both are coming off double-digit road losses in their most recent outings.

Temple fell 83-76 at Collin County this past Saturday, snapping a brief two-game win streak that included a 90-83 victory over Ranger on Jan. 7 and a 94-90 overtime win against Coastal Bend on Dec. 31.

The Leopards will lean on forward Josh Telfort, who has posted consecutive double-doubles in their wins. Telfort scored 22 points with 11 rebounds against Ranger and had 18 points and 10 rebounds against Coastal Bend.

Gyson has lost five straight, most recently an 80-55 defeat at Southwestern Christian on Jan. 7. The Vikings’ last victory was a 69-64 home win over Connors State on Nov. 22. Their season has been marked by offensive struggles, failing to reach 70 points in eight of their last nine games.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, this contest is projected to be a high-scoring deadlock, with a predicted final score of 100-100.

For Temple, this begins a stretch of three games in seven days. The Leopards host Hill on Saturday before visiting Weatherford on Jan. 21. Grayson’s next action is at home against McLennan on Jan. 21.

Wednesday’s tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CST.
