Colby vs Fort Hays Tech

GOODLAND, Kan. (Interstat) — The Fort Hays Tech Trailblazers will look to halt a two-game skid when they host the struggling Colby Trojans in a men’s junior college basketball matchup on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, at Max L. Jones Fieldhouse.

Fort Hays Tech (6-7) is coming off a 92-73 home loss to Cloud County on Wednesday. Marquintez Dixon led the Trailblazers with 21 points, six rebounds, three assists and two blocks, continuing a strong stretch for the forward. In his last three games, Dixon is averaging 14.3 points and 8.0 rebounds, including a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Cowley last month.

Colby (2-10) has lost eight of its last nine, including a 71-67 defeat to Pratt on Wednesday. Guard D.J. Cason has been a bright spot, scoring a team-high 20 points with five assists in that loss. Over his last three contests, Cason is averaging 14.7 points and 2.7 assists per game. Gabe Njenga added 17 points and five rebounds in the loss to Pratt.

The Trojans’ defense will be tested by a Fort Hays Tech offense that has shown potency, scoring 97 points in a November game, but has also been inconsistent. The Trailblazers’ defense has allowed an average of 86.5 points during its current two-game losing streak.

Historically, the teams share several common opponents this season. Both lost to Dodge City and Cowley, though Fort Hays Tech defeated Cowley in their meeting. Colby’s lone conference win came against Hutchinson, a team Fort Hays Tech will face next week.

Saturday’s game represents a critical opportunity for both squads to build momentum heading into the heart of their conference schedules. Fort Hays Tech will aim to get back above .500, while Colby seeks a rare road victory to spark its season.
