Andrew Edges Southern Crescent in High-Scoring Junior College Affair

ANDREW (Interstat) — The Andrew Fighting Tigers secured their first win of the season Saturday, outlasting the Southern Crescent Tigers 86-81 in a men’s junior college basketball game.

Andrew improved to 1-3 overall, while Southern Crescent fell to 0-6.

Xavier Burkes led Andrew with 19 points, and Zion Suber added 18 points and seven rebounds. Timothy Johnson and Jasiyah Suber each scored 13 points for the Fighting Tigers, who shot 51.6% from the floor and 50% from three-point range.

Andrew built a 42-50 halftime deficit into the victory, overcoming 18 turnovers and 51.5% free-throw shooting. Southern Crescent’s statistical line, showing zero field goal attempts, suggests a data reporting error. The teams will meet again Feb. 7 at Southern Crescent.
