Chaffey vs Mount San Jacinto
SAN JACINTO, Calif. (Interstat) — In a high-octane, offensively charged California junior college men’s basketball game Saturday, the Mount San Jacinto Eagles outlasted the visiting Chaffey Panthers 108 to 98.
The game, played on Dec. 13, 2025, was a showcase of offensive efficiency with little defensive resistance, as both teams combined for 206 points. The outcome improved Mount San Jacinto’s record to 9-3, while Chaffey fell to 5-7.
The most critical phase of the contest came in the final minutes of the second quarter, when Mount San Jacinto transformed a narrow advantage into a decisive lead. After Chaffey’s Avery Garcia made a layup to cut the Eagles’ lead to 93-95 with 3:49 remaining, Mount San Jacinto unleashed a game-sealing run. Daniel Crawford immediately answered with a 3-pointer, and following a Chaffey turnover, Adrian Mosley scored on a layup and then a jump shot to push the lead to 100-98.
The Panthers, who had kept pace in the shootout all afternoon, finally saw their offense sputter under pressure while the Eagles continued to execute. A technical foul on Chaffey’s Kajuan Thomas earlier in the quarter, which led to two Mosley free throws, also proved a costly swing in a game where every possession carried immense weight. Mount San Jacinto’s ability to force turnovers and convert them into points down the stretch – highlighted by a Tyler Frazier-Mathews steal and Stephen Castleberry dunk in the final minute – cemented the victory.
The entire game was characterized by remarkable offensive execution. Mount San Jacinto scored 108 points on 80 possessions, an offensive rating of 135.5, while Chaffey was nearly as efficient with 98 points on 75 possessions for a 128.2 rating. The Eagles shot 56% from the field (37 of 66) and made 11 of 26 from 3-point range. Chaffey was 32 of 65 from the floor (49%) and hit 12 of 29 from beyond the arc.
Mount San Jacinto’s Adrian Mosley was the standout performer, leading all scorers with 31 points while adding 10 rebounds and 4 assists. His consistent penetration and finishing were central to the Eagles’ attack. He was supported by Tyler Frazier-Mathews, who had 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks, and Daniel Crawford, who contributed 16 points, all in the second quarter, including four crucial 3-pointers.
Chaffey’s effort was led by a balanced scoring attack. Collin Ingram scored 20 points, Avery Garcia added 16 points and 4 assists, and Christian Walton chipped in 14 points. Kameron Gardner also had 14 points.
Despite the loss, Chaffey won the rebounding battle narrowly, 34-35, and committed only 9 turnovers to Mount San Jacinto’s 6. However, the Panthers’ 23 personal fouls, compared to 15 for the Eagles, allowed Mount San Jacinto to attempt 31 free throws, making 23. Chaffey was 20 of 25 from the line.
The game was a departure from recent form for both teams. Chaffey entered having routed Imperial Valley 91-34 two days prior, while Mount San Jacinto was coming off a 96-81 win over San Diego Mesa. The Eagles’ offense proved too potent to contain, living up to their role as slight favorites with a pregame win probability of 53.9%.
Mount San Jacinto next plays at Copper Mountain on Wednesday, Dec. 17. Chaffey will travel to face San Bernardino Valley the same night. The two teams are scheduled for a rematch at Chaffey on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026.
