Hagerstown vs Monroe
HAGERSTOWN, Md. (Interstat) — The Hagerstown Hawks will look to snap a six-game losing skid when they face the Monroe Mustangs in a men’s junior college basketball rematch at the Monroe Holiday Classic on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025.
The Hawks (1-6) enter following an 80-43 home loss to Daytona State on Saturday, their most lopsided defeat of the season. Monroe (6-4) also seeks a rebound after falling 73-62 to Daytona State at home on Friday.
This matchup is a quick turnaround from Nov. 29, when the Mustangs dominated Hagerstown 65-41 on the Hawks’ home floor. Monroe has won three of its last five, while Hagerstown’s sole victory came in its season opener against Baltimore City on Nov. 15.
A key player to watch for Hagerstown is guard Teajan Silva, who scored 11 points in the loss to Daytona State and was the team’s leading scorer in the previous meeting with Monroe. He will need a strong performance to ignite an offense averaging just 51.7 points during the losing streak.
Monroe counters with dynamic guard Naceiar Kirksey, who recorded 17 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists against Daytona State. Kirksey torched Hagerstown for 15 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists in the November win and is averaging 21 points over his last four games.
The Mustangs’ defense, which held Hagerstown to 41 points last month, will aim to replicate that stifling effort. The Hawks must improve their ball security and shooting after committing 22 turnovers and shooting 27% from the field in the first meeting.
Sunday’s contest continues a difficult stretch for Hagerstown, which does not play another home game until Jan. 3. Monroe embarks on a three-game Arizona road trip following the classic.
Tip-off is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Monroe’s home court. The Mustangs hold a decisive advantage in both record and recent head-to-head play, but the Hawks seek a season-redefining upset on a neutral floor.
