Triton vs Kankakee

KANKAKEE, Ill. (Interstat) — A surging Triton College men’s basketball team looks to continue its momentum when it visits the Kankakee Community College Cavaliers in a junior college matchup on Saturday, Dec. 13.

The Triton Trojans (5-4) enter on a two-game winning streak, highlighted by a dominant 114-54 victory over Wilbur Wright on Tuesday. In that lopsided win, guard Will Scott was remarkably efficient, scoring 20 points and dishing 7 assists in just one minute of playing time, a statistical anomaly likely due to a data entry error in the provided box score. His recent performances, however, underscore his role as a key catalyst. He followed a 17-point, 4-assist effort in a win over Sauk Valley with a quieter game in a loss to Malcolm X.

Scott is part of a potent Triton offense that saw three players score at least 16 points in the rout of Wilbur Wright, with Ethan Johnson and Miles Mitchell also posting 20 and 16 points, respectively.

The Kankakee Cavaliers (2-3) have struggled for consistency early this season. They are looking to rebound from a 64-52 road loss to Southeastern Illinois on Dec. 6. Their season has been marked by swings, following a 21-point home win over Richard J. Daley with a 24-point road loss to John A. Logan.

This contest presents a contrast in recent form. Triton’s offense has averaged 93 points per game during its current win streak, while Kankakee has averaged just 60.5 points in its last two outings. Containing Scott and Triton’s balanced attack will be a primary challenge for the Cavaliers’ defense.

For Kankakee, securing a home-court victory against a .500-plus opponent would provide a significant boost before its final two games of the 2025 calendar year. For Triton, the game is an opportunity to solidify its record above .500 before a quick turnaround at Olive-Harvey on Tuesday.

Tip-off is set for Saturday at Kankakee Community College.
