Paris vs Coastal Bend

PARIS, Texas (Interstat) — The Paris Junior College Dragons will look to extend their winning streak when they visit the struggling Coastal Bend College Cougars in a men’s junior college basketball game Saturday.

The game is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Bee County Day event in Beeville, Texas.

Paris (5-3) enters on a two-game win streak following a narrow 73-70 home victory over Tyler on Wednesday. The Dragons have shown resilience in close games, with three of their five wins coming by five points or fewer. Their season has been marked by inconsistency, however, alternating wins and losses for much of the early schedule.

Coastal Bend (0-5) is still searching for its first win. The Cougars are coming off a 94-74 road loss to Lee on Wednesday. Their season has been defined by defensive struggles, allowing an average of 84.2 points per game. Their most competitive outing was a 79-76 home loss to Blinn on Dec. 3.

A key player for Paris is Chazz Dubois. The guard logged 22 minutes and scored five points with three rebounds in a win over McLennan on Nov. 20, but saw only a single minute of action in the win at Blinn on Dec. 6.

For Coastal Bend, forward Taj Petteway has been a bright spot. He is coming off a 12-point, four-rebound performance in 26 minutes against Angelina on Dec. 6. In the close loss to Blinn, he nearly recorded a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds.

Despite the stark contrast in records, Interstat’s game simulator projects a high-scoring 100-100 tie, suggesting a potentially competitive contest.

Following this game, Paris will break for the holidays before resuming conference play at Angelina on Jan. 3. Coastal Bend will travel to face Temple on Dec. 31 in its final outing of 2025.
