Western Nebraska vs Snow

Preview: Unbeaten Snow Badgers Host Struggling Western Nebraska Cougars

EPHRAIM, Utah (Interstat) — The unbeaten Snow College Badgers look to extend their perfect start when they host the Western Nebraska Community College Cougars in a men’s junior college basketball game Friday.

The game, a rematch of a tightly contested October meeting, pits one of the nation’s hottest teams against one seeking a season-defining upset. Snow (11-0) enters ranked among the nation’s elite, while Western Nebraska (3-8) has lost eight of its last nine.

Snow’s dominance has been fueled by a balanced attack and the recent stellar play of forward Brock McClure. In his last four games, McClure has averaged a double-double, including a 22-point, 14-rebound performance in a 90-49 rout of Hill College on Dec. 6. In the teams’ first meeting on Oct. 31, Snow escaped Scottsbluff, Nebraska, with a 95-89 victory.

Western Nebraska counters with a backcourt that can score in bunches, coming off an 87-78 home win over Eastern Wyoming on Nov. 25. Viktor Lukic-Gavric poured in 24 points in that victory, with Amare Jackson adding 18 points and five assists. The Cougars will need similar high-level production to challenge Snow’s stifling defense, which has held opponents to an average of 71.5 points per game.

Despite the stark contrast in records, Interstat’s game simulator projects a nail-biter, forecasting a 100-100 final score. The Cougars have shown offensive capability, but consistency has been an issue, particularly on the road where they are 1-6.

For Snow, the game begins a crucial stretch against region opponents. The Badgers host Casper College on Saturday. Western Nebraska travels to play Utah State Eastern on Saturday.

Tipoff is set for Friday afternoon at the Snow College arena.
