Mississippi Gulf Coast Outlasts Jones in Double-Overtime Thriller
ELLISVILLE, Miss. (Interstat) — Mississippi Gulf Coast survived a furious rally to edge Jones 116-114 in a double-overtime men’s junior college basketball game Monday night. The visiting Bulldogs squandered a large early lead but held on for the road victory.
The game required two extra periods after a second-half defensive struggle followed a blistering first half that ended with Gulf Coast leading 89-89. Both teams scored just 12 points in the third quarter.
Mississippi Gulf Coast (7-1) was led by Za’Kariyea Hamilton with 16 points. Jones (7-3) was paced by Jay Tyler’s 18 points and nine assists, while Keron Jackson added 16 points and 14 rebounds. The Bulldogs’ 38-for-47 performance at the free-throw line proved critical.
