Barstow vs San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Interstat) — In a California Community College Athletic Association men’s basketball contest on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2025, the San Jose Jaguars used a dominant first-half performance to secure a 62-46 victory over the visiting Barstow Vikings at San Jose City College.

The Jaguars established control early, outscoring the Vikings 29-19 in the opening quarter and extending their lead with a 33-27 advantage in the second period. The offensive output proved insurmountable for Barstow, which struggled to find consistent scoring outside of a few key contributors.

San Jose was propelled by an exceptional individual performance from Taj Royster. The standout guard was the engine of the Jaguars’ offense, pouring in a game-high 37 points on a variety of drives to the basket and mid-range jumpers. Royster added nine rebounds and was a persistent threat that the Vikings’ defense could not contain. His ability to draw fouls and convert at the free-throw line was a critical component of the San Jose attack.

Supporting Royster was Savion Daniels, who orchestrated the offense with a team-high five assists to go with six rebounds. The Jaguars also received significant contributions from their bench and role players. Muhammad Singleton provided energy and six rebounds, while Ryan Baker chipped in five rebounds, two assists and a key three-pointer. Ron Jones Jr. provided efficient scoring off the bench with seven points, all coming in the first half.

For Barstow, the offensive load was carried primarily by Trestyne Nguru. He finished as the team’s leading scorer with 17 points, demonstrating a hot hand from beyond the arc with multiple three-pointers. However, his efforts were not enough to keep pace with San Jose’s balanced and high-powered attack. Arion Valentine was the only other Viking to reach double figures, scoring 10 points. Dashon Palmer provided a spark off the bench with five points and solid defensive energy, while Peter Oguama was active on the defensive end.

The game’s flow was characterized by San Jose’s ability to answer every Barstow push. The Vikings managed to tie the game briefly in the second quarter, but the Jaguars consistently responded with runs, often fueled by Royster’s scoring or forced turnovers. San Jose’s defense effectively disrupted Barstow’s offensive sets, leading to difficult shots and a lower overall shooting percentage for the visitors.

With the win, San Jose improved its season record to 5-3. The Jaguars will look to build on this momentum when they host Fresno City on Tuesday, Dec. 2. The loss dropped Barstow to 1-5 on the season. The Vikings will attempt to regroup on the road against West Los Angeles on Thursday, Dec. 4.
