(Interstat) — Preview: Midland at Mineral Area

An undefeated powerhouse visits a surging conference foe Friday as the top-ranked Midland Chaparrals (11-0) face the Mineral Area Cardinals (6-2) in a men’s junior college basketball matchup.

The Chaparrals, coming off a 108-75 road victory over Temple on Thursday, have dominated their schedule, winning each game by an average of 19.5 points. Yeison Liberato led the latest win with 31 points. Mineral Area has not played since Nov. 22, when it routed Olney Central 89-52 behind 21 points from Ramello Smith.

Midland’s high-powered offense will test a Cardinals squad that has won four straight since an 0-2 start. The teams have no common opponents this season. A Interstat game simulator projects a 100-100 tie.

The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. at the Bob Sechrest Field House in Park Hills, Missouri. Mineral Area travels to Western Texas on Saturday. Midland’s next game is Jan. 5 at Clarendon.
