MiraCosta vs Citrus
GLENDORA, Calif. (Interstat) — The Citrus College Owls showcased their high-octane offense and relentless defensive pressure in a commanding 102-68 victory over the MiraCosta Spartans in a men’s junior college basketball game Tuesday night.
The Owls, playing on their home court, remained undefeated on the season, improving to 5-0, while the Spartans’ struggles continued, dropping them to 0-5.
Citrus seized control of the game from the opening tip, exploiting MiraCosta’s ball-handling issues to build a double-digit lead in the first quarter and never looking back. The Owls’ signature full-court press and aggressive defense forced the Spartans into 28 turnovers, which they converted into numerous easy transition baskets.
Amiri Meadows led the charge for Citrus, orchestrating the offense and defense with a game-high 26 points, six assists and five steals. His backcourt partner, Rockwell Reynolds, provided a massive spark off the bench, pouring in 20 points and grabbing six rebounds in just 20 minutes of action. The Owls’ offensive attack was balanced and efficient, with Dev Hamilton adding 15 points and Dylan Victorio contributing 12.
For MiraCosta, Travis Snider recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Elijah Samdahl added 13 points, and Jesse Snider chipped in 12, but the Spartans could not overcome their own mistakes or contain the Owls’ offensive firepower.
The statistical disparity told the story of the lopsided contest. Citrus dominated in nearly every category, dishing out 18 assists to MiraCosta’s five and recording 18 steals to the Spartans’ five. The Owls also capitalized on their opportunities at the free-throw line, making 20 of 26 attempts, while MiraCosta managed just 6 of 10.
From an efficiency standpoint, Citrus scored 102 points on 82 possessions, an offensive rating of 123.9 that underscored their effective shot selection and ability to generate high-percentage looks. MiraCosta, by contrast, managed 68 points on 83 possessions, an offensive rating of 82.2, hampered by the constant stream of turnovers.
The game was effectively decided by halftime. After taking a 45-38 lead in a fast-paced first quarter, the Owls completely shut down the Spartans in the second period, outscoring them 57-30 to put the game out of reach.
The victory extends Citrus’s impressive start to the season, having won each of their five games by an average of over 30 points. MiraCosta, meanwhile, continues to search for its first win amid a challenging early-season schedule.
Citrus will look to continue its winning ways on the road against Fullerton on Friday. MiraCosta returns home to host Copper Mountain next Tuesday.
