Holmes Aims to Continue Strong Start Against Struggling Baton Rouge

GOODMAN, Miss. (Interstat) — The Holmes Bulldogs look to build on their hot start when they host the winless Baton Rouge Bears in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday.

Holmes (4-1) enters riding a three-game winning streak, most recently edging Southern-Shreveport 68-67 on Nov. 22. The Bulldogs previously defeated Baton Rouge (0-8) 72-70 on the road on Nov. 13, a game that marked the Bears’ closest margin of defeat this season.

Baton Rouge seeks its first victory amid an eight-game skid. The Bears are coming off a 78-63 home loss to Navarro on Nov. 25. Markalon Rochell has been a bright spot, scoring 23 points in the last meeting with Holmes.

The Bulldogs have balanced scoring and have won both home games this season. Baton Rouge’s challenging schedule has included four road losses.

Tipoff is set for Wednesday night at Holmes Community College.
