Cerritos vs Los Angeles City
LOS ANGELES (Interstat) — Dorian Tate scored a game-high 22 points as the Cerritos Falcons dominated the Los Angeles City Cubs 81-52 in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday night.
The Falcons seized control early, erupting for 39 points in the opening quarter while holding the Cubs to 22, establishing a lead they would not relinquish. Cerritos continued its offensive onslaught in the second quarter, adding another 42 points to Los Angeles City’s 30 to secure the decisive victory. The win improved Cerritos’ season record to 3-1, while Los Angeles City remained winless at 0-4.
Tate was the engine of the Falcons’ offense, adding six rebounds and two assists to his scoring total in a complete 40-minute performance. He was instrumental in the first-quarter blitz, scoring on multiple drives to the basket and converting from the free-throw line to help build the insurmountable early advantage.
He was complemented by backcourt partner David Mack, who contributed 12 points and a team-high five assists, facilitating the offense throughout the contest. In the paint, Isaac Sowell anchored the Falcons, pulling down 11 rebounds to go with six points, a steal and a block.
The Cubs, struggling to find consistent offense, were led by Kye Usher-Brown, who finished with seven points, seven rebounds and five assists. Jaelin Brown added nine points and four rebounds for Los Angeles City.
The game was characterized by sloppy ball handling from the home team, with the Cubs committing numerous turnovers that the Falcons frequently converted into transition opportunities. Cerritos’ defensive pressure was a constant factor, disrupting Los Angeles City’s offensive sets and creating easy scoring chances at the other end.
According to the Interstat ELO system, Cerritos entered the contest with an 85.70 percent probability to win, a projection the Falcons lived up to with a comprehensive performance from the opening tip.
The Falcons will look to build on this momentum when they host Cypress on Nov. 19. Los Angeles City seeks its first win of the season in its next outing, a home game against Irvine Valley on Saturday.
