FULLERTON, Calif. (Interstat) — Two undefeated California men’s junior college basketball teams, Yuba and host Fullerton, will face off Friday in a Tournament of Champions matchup pitting the high-scoring 49ers against the defensively stout Hornets.

Both teams enter the 7 p.m. contest at Fullerton College with 1-0 records. Yuba opened its season with a 102-85 road victory over Sacramento City on Oct. 31, showcasing a potent offense. The 49ers were led by Donovan Pitts’ 18 points.

Fullerton commenced its season on Nov. 1 with a commanding 77-53 road win at Sequoias. The Hornets’ defense held their opponent to 53 points, while Brayden Smith recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

The game is part of the early-season tournament hosted by Fullerton College. Following this contest, Yuba’s next game is Nov. 13 against Feather River, while Fullerton travels to face Compton on Nov. 11.
