MOORPARK, Calif. (Interstat) — The Los Angeles Valley Monarchs and Moorpark Raiders will tip off their new seasons against each other in the Moorpark Invitational men’s junior college basketball tournament on Saturday.

Both teams enter the contest with 0-0 records, looking for a fresh start after concluding their previous campaigns with losses. The Monarchs last played on Feb. 21, 2025, falling 68-65 to Antelope Valley. The Raiders have been off since a March 1, 2025, 81-65 defeat to Cypress.

The non-conference matchup at Raider Gymnasium offers an early-season test for both programs. The game will serve as the opener for each team in the California community college tournament.

For Los Angeles Valley, the contest begins a challenging early stretch, with a game against San Diego Miramar scheduled for the following day. Moorpark will also have a quick turnaround, hosting Los Angeles City on Sunday.

The Monarchs and Raiders will look to build momentum from this opener as they navigate their respective schedules before the bulk of conference play begins in January.
