SAN MATEO, Calif. (Interstat) — The San Mateo Bulldogs opened their men’s junior college basketball season with a decisive 94-71 victory over the Orange Coast Pirates on Friday night. The Bulldogs established a commanding lead early, outscoring the Pirates 61-30 in the first quarter and never looking back. San Mateo maintained its offensive pressure throughout the contest, while Orange Coast was unable to close the gap. Both teams begin the season 0-1. San Mateo was projected as a heavy favorite to win by national statistical models. The Pirates will look to rebound Saturday at Ohlone.
