FREMONT, Calif. (Interstat) — The Orange Coast Pirates and San Mateo Bulldogs, both seeking their first win of the young season, will open play at the Ohlone Classic on Friday.

The California community college men’s basketball matchup on Oct. 31, 2025, pits two teams looking to rebound from losses that ended their previous campaigns. Orange Coast concluded its 2024-25 season with a 70-84 loss at Riverside on Feb. 21, while San Mateo fell 63-84 at Chabot on Feb. 14.

The non-conference game offers a fresh start for both programs, as each holds an 0-0 record in all competitions for the new season.

A tight contest is anticipated. The Interstat game simulator projects a 100-100 final score, suggesting a potential overtime battle between the Pirates and Bulldogs.

For Orange Coast, the game begins a challenging three-game road stretch, with contests at Ohlone and Citrus to follow. San Mateo will continue its early homestand, hosting Shasta the following day.

Tipoff is scheduled for Friday at the Ohlone Classic tournament.
