PLANO, Texas (Interstat) — The Collin County men’s basketball team used a dominant first quarter to secure a 59-49 victory over Lamar State-Port Arthur on Friday night. The Cougars outscored the Seahawks 33-18 in the opening period and held on for the win despite being outscored in the second half. Nick Gunter led Collin County with a strong all-around performance, recording 15 rebounds and eight blocks to go with 10 points. The victory improves the Cougars’ record to 2-0, while the Seahawks begin their season 0-1. Collin County is scheduled to host Angelina on Saturday. Lamar State-Port Arthur travels to face Midland.
