RANGELY, Colo. (Interstat) — The Arizona Western Matadors defeated the Colorado Northwestern Spartans 72-62 in a men’s junior college basketball game Wednesday. Arizona Western built a substantial 42-29 lead by halftime and maintained control throughout the second half to secure the win. The victory improved the Matadors’ season record to 2-1, while the Spartans fell to 1-2. Paora Winitana led Arizona Western with a double-double of 11 points and 13 rebounds. Trey Johnson was the high scorer for Colorado Northwestern with 15 points.
