RALEIGH, N.C. (Interstat) — Two teams seeking their first win of the season will meet Saturday when the Polk State Eagles face the Wake Tech Eagles in a men’s junior college basketball game.

Polk State (0-1) arrives after a draining, high-scoring 134-127 double-overtime loss to USC Salkehatchie on Friday. Despite the defeat, Polk State’s offense was potent, led by Ethan Simon’s 31 points and 16 rebounds. Eric Dailey added 23 points and Marques DaSilva-Romeo scored 27.

Wake Tech (0-0) opens its 2025-26 campaign after its last official game was a 72-81 loss to Richard Bland on March 14, 2024. The team will look to start anew on its home court.

The game presents a contrast in early-season rhythm. Polk State will play its second game in as many days, testing its stamina after a taxing double-overtime contest. Wake Tech, meanwhile, will shake off any offseason rust in its season debut.

Polk State’s schedule does not ease up, with a difficult two-game road trip at Chipola and Northwest Florida State looming in early December. For Wake Tech, this begins a season where its next home game isn’t until Nov. 7 against Daytona State.

Tipoff is set for Saturday at Wake Tech’s home court.
