YANKTON, S.D. (Interstat) — The Doane Tigers edged the Mount Marty Lancers 68-65 in a men’s NAIA basketball game Wednesday night. Doane improved to 5-6 overall while Mount Marty fell to 5-7.

The Tigers built a narrow 31-30 lead after a high-scoring first quarter and maintained that slim margin through the second, outscoring the Lancers 37-35 after halftime to secure the road victory. Sutton Arend led all scorers with 29 points for Mount Marty in the losing effort.

The outcome defied national statistical projections, which heavily favored the Lancers to win at home. The two teams are scheduled to meet again in Crete, Nebraska, on Jan. 21.
