Doane (NE) vs Mount Marty

YANKTON, S.D. (Interstat) — Two NAIA men’s basketball teams seeking momentum will meet Wednesday when the Mount Marty Lancers host the Doane Tigers.

The game tips off at 7:45 p.m. Central time at Cimpl Arena.

Mount Marty (5-6) enters on a three-game winning streak, most recently a 100-71 road victory over Waldorf on Saturday. Damon Opdahl led that charge with 26 points, three rebounds and three assists. Over his last three contests, Opdahl is averaging 14.3 points per game. Sutton Arend added 24 points in the win, while Jake Jensen posted a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Doane (4-6) looks to rebound from an 85-73 loss at Morningside on Saturday. The Tigers have lost three of their last four. Guard Casen Chaney has been a consistent bright spot, scoring a season-high 23 points in the loss to Morningside. Over his last five games, Chaney is averaging 15.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.8 assists per contest. Trevon Beckman, who had 17 points and four rebounds against Morningside, provides secondary scoring.

The Lancers’ recent surge has been fueled by offense, averaging 90.3 points during their win streak. Doane has struggled defensively in losses, allowing an average of 85.3 points in its last three defeats.

This contest is the first of two regular-season meetings between the Great Plains Athletic Conference foes. They will meet again on Jan. 21 in Crete, Nebraska.

For Mount Marty, Wednesday’s game begins a stretch of four out of five on the road. Doane continues a challenging early conference slate before a lengthy homestand in January.
