Michigan vs. Arizona
INDIANAPOLIS (Interstat) — A titanic clash between two of college basketball’s premier programs will decide a spot in the national championship game when the seed Arizona Wildcats face the seed Michigan Wolverines in the NCAA Tournament semifinals on Saturday, April 4, 2026.
The matchup at Lucas Oil Stadium features the tournament’s top two overall seeds, combining for a staggering 71-5 record. Arizona (36-2) enters with a 12-game winning streak, while Michigan (35-3) has won 10 of its last 11, with the lone loss coming to then-Purdue in the Big Ten tournament.
The Wildcats, champions of the Pac-12, have been a model of consistency, last falling on Jan. 31. Their path to Indianapolis included a dominant 79-64 victory over Purdue in the Elite Eight. Guard Ivan Kharchenkov has been a steady force, averaging 13.5 points during the tournament. He scored 18 points in the win over the Boilermakers.
Michigan, the Big Ten champion, arrives with explosive momentum after dismantling Tennessee 95-62 in the Elite Eight. The Wolverines’ offense is powered by forward Yaxel Lendeborg, who is playing at a superstar level. Over his last nine games, Lendeborg is averaging 18.6 points, including a 27-point performance against the Volunteers. His versatility as a scorer and facilitator makes him Arizona’s primary defensive concern.
The game pits Arizona’s balanced, efficient attack against a Michigan team that has scored 90 or more points in four of its five tournament games. Wildcats coach Tommy Lloyd’s high-tempo system will be tested by Michigan’s potent transition offense and defensive length.
This marks the first NCAA Tournament meeting between the programs since 2013. With a berth in Monday night’s national title game on the line, Saturday’s semifinal promises a high-stakes battle between two teams that have spent the entire season ranked among the nation’s elite.
