Dayton at UNC Wilmington

Preview: Dayton Flyers at UNC Wilmington Seahawks

WILMINGTON, N.C. (Interstat) — Two teams riding late-season momentum will clash Saturday when the Dayton Flyers visit the UNC Wilmington Seahawks in a nonconference men’s basketball matchup.

The Flyers (24-10) enter having won seven of their last nine games, including an 80-66 road victory at Bradley on Wednesday. Dayton is powered by guard Javon Bennett, who is averaging 21.4 points over his last five contests. Bennett scored 25 points in 34 minutes against Bradley, following a 27-point performance against Saint Bonaventure on March 13.

The Seahawks (27-6), however, boast a superior overall record and home-court advantage at Trask Coliseum. They edged Yale 68-67 on the road Tuesday, led by 16 points from Christian May and 13 points from Nolan Hodge. Hodge, a key facilitator, has scored in double figures in three of his last five outings.

Dayton’s recent surge followed a two-game skid against VCU in early March. The Flyers’ offense has been potent, scoring 70 or more points in six of their last nine games.

UNC Wilmington has been consistent, suffering only two losses since Feb. 9. Their offense is capable of high outputs, as shown in an 88-point performance against North Carolina A&T on Feb. 26, but they are coming off a 70-85 home loss to Campbell on March 8.

According to FanDuel Sportsbook, Dayton is a 2.5-point favorite. The over/under is set at 139.5 points.

The game tips off at 7 p.m. EDT Saturday.
