Purdue Upsets Top-Seeded Michigan to Claim Big Ten Title

CHICAGO (Interstat) — The Purdue Boilermakers defeated the Michigan Wolverines 80-72 on Sunday to win the Big Ten tournament championship at the United Center.

The teams were tied 38-38 at halftime, but Purdue outscored Michigan 42-34 after the break to secure the victory. The win avenged a regular-season loss to the Wolverines last month. Purdue improved to 27-8, while Michigan, the tournament’s top seed, fell to 31-3. Michigan had been a six-point pregame favorite.
